Hands, wrists and knees . . . at Cobalt NHS Treatment
Centre
Having
successfully delivered day case procedures for
NHS patients within general
surgery and endoscopy specialties the
Cobalt NHS Treatment Centre is now developing it's
orthopaedic capability with the introduction of a
couple of new services.
First to be lauched was a 'hand and wrist'
service offering short wait times for consultation and subseqent
surgery with leading local Consultants Mr Chris
Gibbons and Mr Jaime Candal-Couto.
One of the first patients to book into service
through Patient Choice Mrs Maureen Dryden-Bell
from Blyth commented, “I expected to wait a couple of months but
was delighted to get an appointment so soon. From seeing my GP
through to having my consultation and procedure has taken less than
2 weeks. It’s been fabulous and the attitude of the consultant and
theatre and nursing teams has been excellent – they have really
looked after me.”
This month a new 'knee' service for the
diagnosis, assessment and treatment of knee conditions has been
launched. Delivered by a local consortium of Orthopaedic
Consultants this service will also offer day case surgery
and short wait times.
